Just J was born on July 8th 1992 in El Paso, TX with his family’s origins being from Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He started creating artwork during his time in public school, he says “I would doodle on the pages in my notebook and on school work rather than pay attention during class”. He started developing his art skills a bit more in art classes that he took through out his teenage years.

The art style within his work is very “cartoony” and almost “anime-like”. He started working on his imagery and combination of character design through watching video streamers on YouTube. “I did have one art teacher in High School who was really good at teaching one-on-one to her students and she did play a huge role in inspiring me to improve my art style, but most recently I have put drawing and creating to practice by watching my favorite You Tubers.”

“I try to mimic most of the styles from the artists I follow. I see classes that artists have on YouTube that portray skill development with more description and detail. I watch live videos on drawing to learn certain styles and I also enjoy reading anatomy books to better my design of the human body. I practice after I study.”

Just J’s work brings back “Old School” Characters or TV Shows from the 90’s and early 2000’s, giving his viewers a sense of nostalgia when they analyze his art pieces.

Thinking Out Loud (Style): “I try to spark joy in people with my work while other artists try to spark thought within their audience. Compared to other artwork on the walls, my artwork is simplistic. It is whole some and non-conservative. Most people want to invoke thinking in spectators, but my art makes you stop that. I also want people to realize that just because its a cartoon your seeing in my work, doesn’t necessarily mean its “Kid-Friendly” art. My elements and visuals have a sense of “Rated-R” imagery to it, especially with my “Anime Girls”.
